Your privacy matters to us

You trust us with your conversations, and we take that seriously. Here is what you can count on:

  • Your data is not for sale. We never sell it, never show you ads, and never use your conversations to train AI.
  • We collect only what we need to deliver your messages and calls and keep the app safe.
  • Your data is protected. It is encrypted in transit and at rest, and any access to your content is strictly limited, logged and audited.
  • You are in control. You can export your data or delete your account at any time.

Who we are

Wasil is a messaging and calling app operated by IBS Digital (Private) Limited (“IBS Digital”, “we”), Islamabad, Pakistan. This policy covers the Wasil Android and iOS apps. Anyone aged 16 or older can create a public account. Organizations can also set up private workspaces for their members, who can communicate only within their workspace.

Information we collect

  • Account: phone number or email address, name and profile photo.
  • Content: messages, photos, videos, audio notes, files and groups.
  • Calls: call logs. Call audio and video are not stored unless your organization enables recording.
  • Technical: IP address, device and app details, push notification token and crash reports.
  • Traffic data: who communicated with whom and when, kept as required by law.

We do not access your contacts or precise location, and we do not use advertising identifiers.

How we use it

We use your information to verify your account, deliver messages and calls, send notifications, handle reports and support requests, prevent abuse, fix problems and meet legal obligations. We do not sell your data, show ads or use your content to train AI models. Where laws such as the GDPR apply, we rely on our contract with you, our legitimate interest in running a secure service, legal obligations, and your consent where we ask for it.

Organization workspaces

If you use Wasil through an organization, that organization controls your workspace data. Its administrators can manage member accounts, restrict features and enable call recording. Participants see an indicator when a call is recorded, and recordings are kept for the period the organization sets. Send requests about workspace data to your organization first. Call recording is never available for public accounts.

Sharing

Your messages and calls go only to the people and groups you choose. We use service providers, under contract, for hosting (Amazon Web Services), verification codes (SMS and email providers), push notifications (Google and Apple) and crash reporting (Sentry). We may also disclose data when the law requires it, or to a new owner in a merger or acquisition. We never sell your data or share it with advertisers.

Access to content and legal requests

Your content is stored on our servers and is not end-to-end encrypted. Only authorized personnel can access it, through a secure procedure, and only for legal requests, reported content, support you have consented to, or emergencies involving a risk to life. Every access is logged and audited. We disclose data to authorities only on valid legal process under applicable law, including the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act, 2016, and only what is required.

Storage and security

Your data is stored on Amazon Web Services servers in Singapore and is encrypted in transit and at rest. No system is completely secure. If a breach affects your data, we will notify you as required by law.

Retention and deletion

We keep messages, media and account data until you delete them or your account. Traffic data is kept for 1 year as required by law, logs for up to 90 days and backups for up to 1 year.

You can delete your account in the app (Settings → Account → Delete account). Your data is then removed from our live systems within 30 days and from backups within 1 year. Traffic data is deleted when its legal retention period ends.

Your rights

You can access, correct, export or delete your data, object to certain processing and withdraw consent. Email info@wasilchat.com and we will respond within 30 days. Workspace members should contact their organization first.

Age requirement

Wasil is for people aged 16 and over. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 16, we will delete it.

Permissions

The app asks for camera, microphone, photos and files, and notifications only when you use a feature that needs them. You can turn these off in your device settings at any time.

Changes to this policy

We will update this policy before using your data in new ways, and notify you in the app of material changes.
